The new Gmail-based social-networking tool, “Google Buzz” has been criticized for disclosing Gmail contacts. In a broad sense, the issue with the Google Buzz is that it automatically follows all the contacts in your Gmail list that you have been in contact like sending and receiving mails and making them a public list. The contacts which are not supposed to be added are forcibly added automatically at the starting step of Buzz.
The issue was noted by the Silicon Alley Insider on Wednesday. “Imagine … a wife discovering that her husband emails and chats with an old girlfriend,” the Web site said. “Imagine a boss discovers subordinate emails with executives at a competitor.”
Currently, most Gmail users are not publicly listed by the service. Users can also “unfollow” people who they don’t want to be linked to. And while users require setting up a public profile before they can post messages, Google buzz does give them an option to hide that they are following and whoever is following them.
Google Buzz users can also change the settings by the “edit ” tab to choose and switch to different options. Hope everything goes well with the new service but it really takes time to settle down with the new things and existing issues. Stay tuned for more updates.
