sony-vaio-cw-laptop1Sony has presented a couple of laptops today, and one of them is the fashionable VAIO CW.

The 14-inch laptop boasts a 16:9 aspect ratio and can be considered a mid-range unit. It will run Windows 7 as the operative system, and in the inside you can find a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of memory RAM, and a GeForce GT 230M for the graphics.

In terms of storage capacity, there is a 320GB hard-drive. The Sony VAIO CW will become available later this month, for $850, but there should be other versions of the laptop with different processors, which will make the price go up or down.

At this week’s IFA trade show in Germany, Tech Radar reports that Kyu Uhm, Head of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Samsung’s Computing Division, told an audience, “Samsung is the largest OLED screen manufacturer. And as soon as it’s available commercially for laptops we will adopt it.” His best estimate was, “Probably sometime Q3 next year.” (more…)

Sony VAIO VGN-NW11S/S-15.5in Laptop Review

Sony Latest

It’s easy to get excited when Sony delivers one of its many super-expensive ultra-portables, like the VAIO TT or Z Series, to our door, but in the past its mainstream laptops have been a little hit and miss. For all the lustre and acclaim its VAIO brand engenders in consumers, the reality isn’t always the all singing, all dancing computing experience people imagine. This is actually true of most of Sony’s laptops, making it one of the few manufacturers that hasn’t jumped on this particular bandwagon. You still get a glossy display mind, but this is nothing like as irritating as dealing with fingerprints, dust and grease adorning every inch of the chassis. (more…)
