MeeGo: Nokia and Intel together forms “MeeGo”

meegologoThe two big companies Nokia and Intel today announced a partnership and soon are going to deliver the “MeeGo”. What is MeeGo?

Intel and Nokia both are going to merge their odds and are going to come out with MeeGo. Intel’s Mobiln and Nokia’s Maemo are combined together to create a “software platform that will support multiple hardware architectures across the broadest range of device segments, including pocket able mobile computers, netbooks, tablets, mediaphones, connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems.”

The two companies are merging their odd, half-finished, Linux-based OS’s into one crazy little package called “MeeGo”. This is going to be a wonderful product coming out from the two smart yet technical Brands.

According to the company’s press release, the new platform will begin later this year.

Google Buzz, a Big No… No…

Google-BuzzGoogle might have chosen the wrong time to release its social networking service, “Google Buzz”. The reaction from the crowd after the release of Google buzz is pretty much disappointing.

We believe that users are too busy with the world of Facebook and Twitter that they do not want to get separated from their present social networking tools. Most of the people are already saying that this new Tool will end up being treated as the In-box Folder that nobody opens.

In spite of many features that are available in Buzz, it seems like nobody has time for it. Even if the Buzz is already connected to Google’s other services, there is a general lack of interest for the tool like Google Wave.

Google has also announced that Android versions 2.0 and above will have a mobile version of the Buzz available which will use the GPS feature on smart phones to provide geo-related Buzz updates and content.

Yahoo lately said to media that they already have a similar Buzz tool. It does the same things and is called “Buzz”. They say their system has been around for over a year and since most of us did not even know that, it is pretty obvious that Yahoo! Buzz was anything but close to success.

People do not require another social networking tool as they have enough tools to interact with their family and friends. I feel Google Buzz may be liked by the people who are not into other Social Networking tools so far. Stay tuned for more updates.

“Google” The Next ISP Provider

google-wifiGoogle has always been giving its splendid services like free airport WiFi and also free WiFi network. But, now Google makes some thing bigger. It has announced the launch of its Fiber based ISP service, which offers 1GBPS speed at competitive prices to select markets.

We believe, keeping the forthcoming trend of market in mind, Google has launched this service. Because, the uses of internet for even a single bit is inn the latest trends list.

It happened for Google to talk about the GoogleNet in 2005 but nothing came around with the specified name. Expectations are pretty high regarding Google ISP as technology of fiber is to be used. Since it has been outspoken the technology used, it has called all the interested communities to apply.

1GBPS speed from Google? Well, that’s new stuff and we hope it works really well this time. Stay tuned for more updates.

Adobe Flash Player for iPhone and iPad

iphone flashThere was a time when the Apple and Adobe collectively said that they are going to work together and get the Adobe Flash player for iPhone.

But, till date no such product has been released. An additional spice in the news was the iPad released without the Adobe flash player. Thus making news that something is wrong in between the two big companies.

Adobe CEO, Shantanu Narayen, once said that his team was about to start the coding part of Flash player for the iPhone. But there hasn’t been any news associated with ‘Adobe flash player preparation’. .

On the other hand, the news from Steve Jobs calling ‘Adobe lazy’ which was a passive aggression of the work not done yet.

Despite of declaring the news of the Adobe Flash player, the release of the software for the Apple iPhone did not support the news yet. There might be some kind of cold war between them which they are looking into two different directions instead working together. The clash between these big sources would bring up nothing else apart from letting their competitors reach their goals.

T-Mobile and Orange Merging for Creating a Mobile Phone Giant?

15376887The deal between Orange-owner France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile UK will see a business with sales of 9.4bn euros (£8.2bn; $13.5bn).

Holding about 37% of the mobile market it will be the UK’s largest provider, overtaking Telefonica’s O2.

It is the second large corporate deal in two days, after Kraft Food’s £10.2bn takeover proposal for Cadbury.

Orange and T-Mobile said their deal – due to be signed by November – would “bring substantial benefits to UK customers”, and promised expanded network coverage, better network quality and improved customer services.

However it is likely that competition authorities in the UK and EU will probe the deal. (more…)

HP quarterly profit dips 19 percent

With revenue down across almost all of its businesses, Hewlett-Packard posted a 19 percent drop in profit for the third quarter of 2009.
HP
For the quarter ended July 31, HP recorded earnings of $1.6 billion, down from $2 billion the same quarter a year ago, and earnings per share of 67 cents. A year ago the company earned 80 cents per share. Excluding $568 million in one-time items related to restructuring and acquisitions, HP earned $2.2 billion or 91 cents per share.

Analysts had been expecting earnings between 82 cents and 92 cents per share, and revenue between $26.8 billion and $27.7 billion.

HP’s sales for the quarter were in line with expectation at $27.5 billion, but still saw a 2 percent decline in the last year. Revenue dipped, however, in its computer, storage, financial services, software, and printing businesses. The one bright spot was its services division, whose 93 percent increase in revenue to $8.5 billion is due mostly to the company’s acquisition of EDS last year. But in total, it was the third straight quarter of falling profit for HP. (more…)

Microsoft asks for stay of Word injunction

Microsoft on Tuesday asked an appeals court to halt an injunction that would force the company to stop selling Microsoft Word in its current form.
Microsoft
A judge last week issued an injunction that would force Microsoft to stop selling versions of Word with a custom XML function that a jury found infringes on a patent held by Canadian software maker I4i. The judge had ordered the injunction to go into effect 60 days after the ruling.

In its “emergency motion,” made Tuesday, Microsoft asked an appeals court to halt that injunction and also to speedily hear the company’s appeal, once it is filed.

Microsoft said that it is trying to remove the functionality found to infringe on I4i’s patents, but unless it can do so, it would be forced to stop distributing Word in the U.S. market. “Already, Microsoft is expending enormous human and financial capital to make its best effort to comply with the district court’s 60-day deadline,” Microsoft said in the appeals court motion.

The software maker said the injunction could potentially keep Word and even Office off the shelves for months. “Unless Microsoft is able to redesign Word and push that redesigned version through its entire distribution network by October 10th…Microsoft and its distributors (which include retailers such as Best Buy and OEMs such as HP and Dell) face the imminent possibility of a massive disruption in their sales,” Microsoft argues in the court papers. Apple: Jailbreaking iPhones Breaks Cell Towers

Grand hyperbole or real threat? Either way, Apple’ latest anti-jailbreaking claims are downright poetic. The company last week filed claims with the Copyright Office, suggesting that jailbreaking one’s iPhone could be “potentially catastrophic” to cellphone networks.

The claim, which was brought to light by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, suggested that “Jailbreaking could allow hackers to altering the iPhone’s BBP–the “baseband processor” software, (more…)

Apple Rejects Official Google Voice iPhone App

Now we know why Google Voice apps were only released for BlackBerry and Android. Apple rejected Google’s official Google Voice app when it was submitted for approval six weeks ago. What. The. Shit.

Here’s the quote from the Google spokesperson to TechCrunch:

“We work hard to bring Google applications to a number of mobile platforms, including the iPhone. Apple did not approve the Google Voice application we submitted six weeks ago to the Apple App Store. We will continue to work to bring our services to iPhone users – for example, by taking advantage of advances in mobile browsers.” (more…)
