Google Goggles: A Visual Technology

google-gogglesGoogle Goggles”, the name itself gives you an idea that this is something related to Visual and Google is expertise in these surprising things.

Google at the Mobile World Congress decided to get an App like this. It seems to be very technical and complicated. This technology is just a prototype and the company is going to take time to release this App in order to stay away from criticism.

Eric Schmidt himself showed off the new prototype of Google Goggles that will allow the user to take pictures of text and literally scan it into the phone. This would reduce the time to track the exact word to be searched. So all you got to do is take a picture of the thing which you would like to search and let it get scanned to get the information about it.

Also it depends on the Quality of the camera and the accuracy of the scanner, because these two play a vital role in doing the translation for you. But these are just technical things and can be sorted accordingly. Does not be annoyed about the hardware, Google will however figure out a solution for it.

This process drives me to a thought of a futuristic machine translating things for me in just a single click. I am thrilled for this App to get launched in the market. The process is a bit technical, of course. But Google has managed to create a machine translation technology to work in junction with the image recognition already on the Google Goggles software.

We think that Google is taking all the necessary steps to make this product a successful one and has not yet revealed the release date of it. So, fasten your seat belts and have a cool ride with this Video of Google Goggles.

Google’s Nexus one phone’s test video

goole voice translaterThe Google’s Nexus one phone is being tested mercilessly with different Strategies. The Nexus one phone is being tested with all the possible ways of getting damaged but still it persists to be the unbreakable one. The video of testing is getting me goose bumps.

The phone is being bent, thrown from different angles, poking of the trackball, dropped from heights, tested in a practical way of carrying the phone.

Thus by testing and removing all the possibilities of getting damaged the video is out and the nexus one phone just looks like being tested mercilessly. The Google is more concentrated on the Quality of the phone terminating all the possibilities of the Nexus one phone getting damaged. Thus the gamers and the fans of Nexus one phone the video is a must see .

Will Firefox be arriving to Google Android Next Month?

firefox-google-android

Mozilla looks likely to be unveiling its Firefox for Mobile browser on the Google Android platform soon.

Camp-firefox.de is stating that the first version of the program will be coming next month, although it will only be in beta.

Firefox for Mobile offers a number of upgraded features over the current WebKit-based browser on Android phones, such as tabbed browsing and synchronisation with your desktop browser and bookmarks.

Firefox, which is the second most popular desktop browser after Internet Explorer, is already available on Nokia’s Maemo platform. The Nokia N900 was the device that prompted Mozilla to develop its software for Maemo first and it features identically to the desktop version.

Firefox is also now in alpha release for Windows mobile, which is a very early release suggesting that the version for Android may launch before it.

The Android operating system is now the second most popular mobile operating system, and with Googles backing and all the press it’s receiving from the Google Nexus One it’s likely to continue making progress on the Symbian platform. (more…)

Walmart will be selling the Nexus One?

Walmart_WebpageWal-Mart’s web site advertises Google’s troubled Nexus One smartphone as “Coming Soon,” and the price could be as low as $99. Wal-Mart’s version of the Nexus One could be compatible with the Verizon, Sprint and AT&T networks. Even with Wal-Mart’s backing, Google’s Nexus One has a long way to go to “unseat” Apple, Inc.’s iPhone.

It’s not like they just accidentally typed in all the specs and added pictures for the Nexus One instead of another phone. So it seems to me that there are three different options of why this has happened.

1)Walmart will be selling the Nexus One.
2)A disgruntled employee at Let’s Talk is having a little fun.
3)The website has become self-aware and knows that the best option for mankind is to sell the Nexus One.(source:newsfactor.com)

Mobile app ads cause concern for advertisers

iphone

It comes after advertisers expressed concern that ads in iPhone apps which link to sites not optimised for mobile could damage brands’ reputations.

Last month Google launched AdSense for Mobile Apps to capitalise on the growing sector and began serving ads into iPhone and Android apps for brands such as BlackBerry, Compare the Market and O2. But some ads direct users to online websites that don’t render on phones, rather than to mobile-enabled sites.

It’s estimated that up to 30% of ads within mobile apps link to Flash sites which can’t be displayed on an iPhone; just 5% link to a mobile-enabled site. (more…)

Android Likely Better Without Apple

Hesitant is not a word often used to describe Google. But industry insiders say the Internet giant has been holding back its might in at least one area–mobile–due to its close relationship with fellow tech titan, Apple.

Many in the wireless industry believe Google’s ( GOOG – news – people ) friendship with Apple ( AAPL – news – people )–until Monday, Google Chief Eric Schmidt sat on Apple’s board–is the main reason the company has yet to implement multi-touch gesture support into its mobile operating system, Android. Adding multi-touch would allow people to navigate Android handsets using finger swoops, pinches and flicks instead of more precise single finger taps and swipes. Due to its ease of use, efficiency and fun factor, multi-touch support is one of the most requested features among Android users. (more…)
